A new wave of refugee crisis is likely to hit Europe

On Wednesday, May 17, the situation on the Serbian-Bulgarian border got worse due to a sharp increase in the number of refugees. The Serbian Army 4th Brigade units have been put on an alert to maintain order at the border control points. In total, over twenty thousands of refugees from the Middle East have accumulated near the border. A new intensification of hostilities in Syria and battles for Raqqa and Mosul is the reason.

The roots of this process, that has already overwhelmed the countries of the Old World in 2015, are to be sought in the war in Iraq. On March 20, 2003, the armed forces of four countries (the United States, Great Britain, Australia and Poland) invaded Iraqi territory without formal declaration of war or any UN sanctions. The government of Saddam Hussein and the members of the ruling Baath party were overthrown. Thus, thousands of people found themselves unemployed and without any means of earning. That was the reason for their Islamization and radicalization.

Former military men have become the basis for the formation of ISIS during the civil war in Syria. The Islamists were able to occupy vast territories of the two countries due to their qualitative superiority over any formations of the opposition.  Such actions, accompanied by mass executions among the locals, led to a large-scale flight of civilians, who tried to hide from the horrors of the war.

Their path to Germany, Sweden or Norway laid through other European countries, which began to strengthen their borders and throw migrants on the frontier lanes. However, the fears of Europeans were not in vain. Among the millions of refugees, there were ISIS militants and criminals engaged in theft, raping and murders.

The number of crimes committed by them in the Balkans is incalculable. However, the countries in which they had settled, suffered even more. Raping of women in Cologne. Terror acts in France. Almost two million people who do not know the culture, history, language of the countries they have come to, and live according to their own laws.

Nowadays Europe is living in anticipation of a new wave of refugee crisis. However, most countries do not take any actions to overcome the consequences. Only such countries like Serbia, Croatia, Hungary and Austria are trying to do something. The others, who widely adhere to the notions of “multiculturalism” in their political rhetoric, have become the hostages of circumstances. They cannot welcome such a large number of refugees, but they are compelled to do so. They are restrained by their obligations and party demagogy. The countries of the Balkan Peninsula can only hope that this flood will go north again, leaving their lands alone.
